Abet Laminati is pleased to announce its participation in Clerkenwell Design Week, where it will showcase the newly launched Venezia Collection by renowned designer Giulio Cappellini. The exhibition will take place at Old Sessions House (stand OSH10), bringing a refined expression of Italian design to one of London’s most influential creative festivals.

Originally unveiled during Milano Design Week, the Venezia Collection reflects Cappellini’s enduring exploration of colour, material, and architectural identity. Inspired by the atmospheric beauty and layered history of Venice, the collection translates the city’s unique visual language into a contemporary surface system. Subtle tonal variations, geometric rhythm, and a nuanced interplay of light and texture define the range, offering designers a versatile palette for both residential and commercial interiors.

At Clerkenwell Design Week, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the collection firsthand through a curated installation that highlights the material’s adaptability and aesthetic depth. The presentation emphasizes Abet Laminati’s commitment to innovation in decorative laminates, combining advanced manufacturing techniques with a strong design narrative.

The Venezia Collection embodies a dialogue between tradition and modernity—capturing the essence of Venetian culture while addressing the evolving needs of contemporary design practice. Its introduction to the UK audience marks a significant moment for Abet Laminati as it continues to expand its portfolio of collaborations with leading international designers.

Abet Laminati has also collaborated with Mule Studio to reimagine what can be achieved with decorative laminates. Starting from the beauty of the surfaces and colours, the studio experimented with both physical and digital models to explore how bending sheets can enhance the strength and stiffness of thin materials.

Rather than imposing hand-drawn shapes onto the pieces, Mule Studio developed custom software to simulate the natural bending curvature of sheet materials. The resulting forms are both efficient and elegant, allowing the intrinsic properties of the laminate to take centre stage, while premium finishes highlight the smooth curvature of each surface.

Producing physical prototypes of these digital forms provided an opportunity to push the materials to their limits. The outcome is a collection of ambitious furniture and lighting pieces that demonstrate what can be achieved when digital simulation, rigorous prototyping, and world-leading materials come together.
