Founded in 1973, Rega Research is well-known for beautiful high performance turntables and audio equipment. Famed for the fact it never advertises and doesn’t run any marketing campaigns, it invests every penny into research and development with some amazing results. The company has won a Queen’s Award for enterprise and won no less than six awards at the What HiFi Awards 2018, two of which became Products of the Year.
The Planar 6 and Planar 8 turntables both feature Laminates from Abet Laminati – Polaris in 1.2mm and 873 Satinata in 3mm bonded onto a lightweight Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core (a material developed for the aerospace industry).
Polaris was used as its lightweight, durable and extremely rigid as well as being smooth and velvety to the touch, and is highly resistant to scratches and heat, as well as being anti-fingerprint.
