When Sussex-based husband and wife team and designers Raphy (Raphaella Reilly-Szostak) and Kan (Kan Lailey) set up Hello Retro Design, their inspiration was to take handpicked furniture from the middle of the last Century and professionally restore them to their original beauty with a sprinkle of modern design ideas that make each piece unique. The ultimate in recycling, restoring and reusing you could say!
With a national network of people sourcing furniture, they quickly established a busy practice saving old furniture from the scrap heap and giving them a new lease of life.
They then moved on to develop their own range of new, contemporary furniture to sit alongside the Old Mid Century Pieces. Called Ace & Reno, this range includes desks, storage, sideboards and side tables and includes pioneering coloured hairpin legs along with Abet high-pressure laminates from the Colours and HR-LAQ Collections.
Totally unique, totally stylised and using ethically sourced wood, these pieces are quirky, colourful and bespoke with customers often choosing their own colours from Abet’s ranges to suit their interior designs.
Raphy commented, “We love working with our customers letting them choose the colour and finish for their bespoke furniture.
