Metalleido

ABOUT US

Metalleido Components s.r.l. – which merged into Abet Laminati S.p.a. on 1st January 2015, and is now a division of Abet Group for all purposes – has long been a leader, both nationally and internationally, in the production of composite panels with a honeycomb or Nomex core, and is constantly engaged in researching and developing solutions so it can always offer state-of-the-art products.
Over the years, it has made several investments that have allowed it to be more efficient and closer to the customer’s needs.

Metalleido Components produces different types of lightweight sandwich panels and its primary objective is the quality of its products, expressed through strict quality control procedures, both on raw materials and on finished products.
ISO 9001 certificate obtained by Abet Laminati S.p.A. has been therefore extended also to Metalleido Division.

The sandwich panels are produced using the aluminium honeycomb technology. They are normally used in the nautical and railway sector and for the production of furniture, partitions, ceilings and floors. The Esacore AL, Esacore AL PU, Esacore AL VP, Esacore AL ST, Esacore STT, Esacore LF and Esacore LEM panels are part of this family.
The MONOCORE® panels are made with the technology of the Metalleido patent, now renewed as Abet Laminati (fibreglass impregnated with phenolic resin). They are mainly used to manufacture ship and boat furniture (partitions, slatted floors in yachts) and especially the floors of railway carriages.
The MONOCORE® 3D, MONOCORE® ST and MONOCORE® 3D FP panels are part of this family.

HISTORY

1937 – 2015 –
Metalleido Components s.r.l. was established in June 2000 by Metalleido s.r.l., a well-known company specialised in the production of phenolic resin-treated and impregnated cotton fabric, which has been active since 1937.

1991 – Metalleido took part in the “Brite” project with other companies (Hexcel, Parabeam, Daimler Benz, Intermarine, just to mention a few). The aim of the project was the study and creation of a new panel with a full three-dimensional fibreglass core.

1993 – Monocore Line
At the end of 1993 Metalleido patented the machine for the production of Monocore panels and started manufacturing on industrial scale.
The Mitlight panel was the first at the time to obtain IMO 653 certification for high-speed craft. It was a great success with the first MDV series of fast ferries produced by the Fincantieri shipbuilding company.

2002 – Nomex and honeycomb panel line
In June 2000 Metalleido Components became part of Abet Group, a company known worldwide for its decorative laminates. The company settled in the new premises in Borgo Fornari, where the new automatic line for the production of Nomex and honeycomb core composite panels was set up.

2008 – Compound and cold glue line
The Compound line for the production of sandwich panels using various types of foams (such as polystyrene and PVC) or plywood and other closed-pore materials coated with Abet laminate or painted or raw sheets was installed in 2008. This line is now used only for cold gluing of special laminates. The production of wood-based and compound panels has been suspended.

2010 – Saw machine for aluminium honeycomb blocks
In 2010 Metalleido Components bought the saw machine for honeycomb (Schelling), which improves the quality of the cutting process (tolerance ±0.02 mm) and the efficiency of the service.

2013 – Cold gluing machine
In 2013 the cold gluing process was fine-tuned on a new machine, so it became possible to produce panels with aluminium treated with protective primer (Esacore AL PU), which makes it easier to glue laminates or other materials (or to paint).

2015 – Merger with Abet Laminati S.p.A.
On 1st January 2015 Metalleido Components s.r.l. became part of Abet Laminati S.p.A. and all the machinery and offices were moved to Bra.
